What You'll Do

As a Market Research & Data Analyst, you will serve as the analytical backbone of our intelligence platform. You'll work across multiple industry verticals — hospitality, transportation, real estate, entertainment, sports marketing, and economic development — to produce the data-driven insights that Nashville's business community relies on to prepare for Super Bowl LXIV. This is not a desk research role. You'll conduct primary interviews with industry executives, build original market sizing models from government and proprietary data sources, and translate complex economic datasets into visually compelling, easily digestible reports and dashboards. Your work will be published, cited, and referenced by Nashville's business leaders, civic officials, and media organizations throughout the four-year preparation window.

    Market Sizing & Economic ModelingBuild bottom-up and top-down market sizing models for Nashville's Super Bowl economy across hospitality, transportation, entertainment, real estate, and vendor services. Use government data (BLS, Census, STR), proprietary datasets, and comparable host city benchmarks to generate defensible economic projections with clearly stated assumptions and confidence intervals.

    Data Collection & Primary ResearchDesign and execute primary research methodologies including stakeholder interviews, industry surveys, and focus groups with Nashville-area business owners, hospitality executives, and civic leaders. Collect and clean secondary data from government databases, industry associations, and academic publications to build comprehensive datasets.

    Data Analysis & VisualizationPerform statistical analysis on economic, demographic, and industry datasets. Create interactive dashboards and data visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent tools. Transform raw data into visual narratives that communicate trends, opportunities, and risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.

    Industry Monitoring & Trend TrackingMonitor developments across Nashville's business landscape, Super Bowl Host Committee announcements, NFL procurement updates, and comparable mega-event intelligence. Maintain tracking databases for hotel development pipeline, transportation infrastructure projects, venue construction milestones, and regulatory changes that affect business planning.

    Report Writing & PublicationAuthor comprehensive market intelligence reports ranging from 2,000-word vertical analyses to 10,000-word industry white papers. All reports must follow our editorial standards: AP style, source-cited, peer-reviewed methodology, and clearly separated fact from projection. Reports are published under your professional byline.

What We're Looking For

We value demonstrated analytical ability and intellectual curiosity above formal credentials. That said, the following qualifications represent the baseline competencies required to produce the caliber of work our platform demands.

  • Strong Analytical SkillsDemonstrated ability to work with large, messy datasets and extract meaningful insights. Comfortable with statistical concepts including regression analysis, confidence intervals, trend extrapolation, and variance analysis. You should be able to look at a spreadsheet of 50,000 rows and see the story it's telling.
  • Data Visualization ProficiencyWorking proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio, or equivalent data visualization platforms. You'll be creating dashboards and visual reports that are published directly on our platform. Bonus points for experience with D3.js, Observable, or Flourish for interactive web-based visualizations.
  • 2+ Years Research ExperienceAt minimum, two years of professional experience in market research, economic analysis, consulting, journalism, or a comparable analytical field. Academic research experience (graduate level) counts. We're looking for people who have produced published, peer-reviewed, or client-facing analytical work — not just academic coursework.
  • Excellent Written CommunicationAbility to translate complex statistical findings into clear, accessible prose for a business audience. Your reports will be read by CEOs, city council members, and journalists — not just fellow analysts. Writing samples will be requested during the application process.
